During a year in Europe, Ray Dugan and his wife Sylvia spent several days in Edinbugh and watched people dancing in the park just below the castle. That was in 1982, and on returning to Canada they both enrolled in the K-W Beginners’ Class. They have been dancing ever since, and have had the opportunity to dance in many countries around the world, including Scotland, France, Germany, Holland and the U.S.
Ray began teaching in Stratford in 1994 and obtained his full certificate in 1997. He has taught both in Stratford and Kitchener-Waterloo at all levels, arranged many demonstrations, and has been a guest teacher in Cambridge, Haliburton, and Sarasota, Florida. He has devised a number of new dances and intends to publish them sometime in the future.
